Hello friends around the world!
Just wanted to drop in briefly today to inform those of you who don't already know, that I'm on Facebook and Instagram!
As you know, Jet Lag and Jewels is my way to share information, insights and photos of the things I love, the places I go and the truly unique and creative things and people I discover along the way! I deeply love blogging about these things and am filled with absolute excitement every time I sit down to write a new post!
Since my days are packed with meeting new people and discovering the many talents and artisans in the Italian community, as well as working on my own artwork at the Academy of Fine Arts, collaborating with fellow artists and designers, and traveling to Paris and New York to be part of other creative projects and events, I am usually able to put up a new post only about once a week. To stay connected throughout the rest of the week and know in real time what I'm up to, where I am and what I'm thinking about you can follow me on Facebook at:
and on Instagram at:
I truly love sharing my passions with all of you and I'm always thrilled when I get e-mails from you with feedback about what I write! (Those e-mails and messages really make my day!) It's important for me to know what you enjoy and I would also really love to know if you have any requests or suggestions about what you want to see on the blog.
Friends in Italy, France, Japan and Spain, are you curious about a certain restaurant or museum in New York? - Go ahead and ask me! Friends in America, Germany and Mexico, do you want to know something specific about Italian art, food or what it's like to attend the Accademia di Belle Arti? - Ask me! Friends in Serbia, Africa, Canada and Australia have you been wondering about a certain shop in Paris or what it's like to spend a day walking in the Jardin des Tuileries? - Ask me!
I am so happy to be connected to all of you and it would fill me with even more joy to know what your interests are and how I can make your day just a little bit brighter by posting information and photos of the things you're curious about!
So please feel free to speak up and I will do my best to fulfill your requests!

TOLU in the City!

Hello friends!
My favorite time to come home to New York is in Spring/Summer, when the weather is beautiful and I can enjoy some of my favorite spots in the city! It is when I'm able to roam freely and comfortably and truly connect with my city…I walk the full length of Manhattan, enjoying the sounds of the roaring traffic and feeling like I'm part of something incredible. When I step out of the door in the morning I feel as light as a feather and as free as a bird!...Throughout the course of the day I walk down memory lane, visiting places that are special to me from my childhood, as well as making new discoveries about the city I grew up in.
Of course when I'm out n' about it's important for me to be wearing something cute and comfortable, which is why the 100% Made-In-Italy, Tuscan brand, TOLU, was with me at all times on my last New York adventure. I brought some new pieces from their Spring/Summer 2014 collection, like the crop tops, which I wore under a sweater or jacket, so that I was prepared for the lovely walks under the warm glistening sun in Central Park; the amazingly cute girly bow tie, which added the perfect touch of quirkiness to my outfit while I roamed the Village looking for fun boutiques and galleries and, of course, their classic beanie, which I found incredibly useful and comfy during those cooler evenings in Times Square!
. . . . . . . . . .
Ciao amici!

BLOOMI and Blossoms...

Hi everyone! It is Sunday evening, which means that another busy week is about to start. I had a truly lovely weekend and, since I'm quite tired tonight and need to gear up for an early rise tomorrow morning, right now I'm just relaxing (and pretending to study)…I'm sitting on my terrace and it is a perfect Spring evening: the air is cool but comfortable (it helps that I'm wearing a big sweatshirt), it's quiet and the air is rich with the scent of jasmine. I'm having one of those moments: peaceful, perfect and all mine. ;) ...A time-out from life's chaos.
It reminds me of the glorious days I recently spent in New York and of the incredible peace I found strolling through Central Park, walking amongst the cherry blossoms and magnolia trees. The sun was glistening and every breath was fresh and floral…Here are a few pictures of me enjoying that Springtime perfection. Take special note of my purse. That is my Bloomi bag…completely hand-made by the beautiful Paris-based handbag designer Aurélia Venel. I love this bag so much! The fabrics Aurélia uses are so unique and beautiful and her sartorial talent is undeniable by the detail of each and every purse she creates. To me, my Bloomi bag represents perfectly the Spring season...and every time I use it I feel like I'm wearing a little piece of that delicate Springtime beauty. So here she is everyone...let me introduce to you my
BLOOMI BAG.
. . . . . . . . . .
Buonasera a tutti!

"Les Provocatrices" at the Harlem Wine Gallery, NYC.

Hey everybody!!!

So…I'm just back from New York and I have lots to share with you!!! It was an incredible week of work and play and, though each day was absolutely packed with things to do and therefore I was kept running the whole time, this week somehow boosted my energy, instead of depleting it. I returned a bit jet-lagged, but starry-eyed and full of excitement!
While in NYC I had the great pleasure of attending the opening of my friend, Clementine Djite's art show at the Harlem Wine Gallery on 148th street and St. Nicholas avenue. Clementine is a French artist based in New York. Not only is she very lovely, but her artwork is also quite original. In this series of paintings she focuses on strong, provocative women, using simple clean lines and black and red on white to create the shapes and curves necessary to express femininity, sensuality and a sense of playfulness. It was a wonderful evening and the Harlem Wine Gallery was the perfect setting for this fun and special event!
"Les Provocatrices" will be there until May 25th, so if you're in the New York area, check it out and let me know what you think of my friend's work in the comment section below!
. . . . . . . . . .
Ciao a tutti!

The artist!
