Loquaciousness and Lemonade - "De Vegh Twins", 1975.

De Vegh Twins, 1975, Alice Neel

Writing and doing research for my thesis (for my Bachelor's degree, in 2012) on photographer, Diane Arbus, and painter, Alice Neel, was an extraordinarily interesting and unique experience. I had the incredible opportunity to be in communication with (and in some cases actually meet) extremely inspiring people who knew these talented and independent women first-hand and who kindly shared their personal stories and memories with me. It was an experience I'll never forget. Here I am pictured below with the lovely Suzanne De Vegh, circa August 2012. She and her twin sister were the subjects painted by Alice Neel in her painting "De Vegh Twins" (1975). Suzanne was as genuine and kind on the inside as she is beautiful on the outside. She took time out of her busy schedule to meet with me in New York and, as we chatted over lemonade, she really opened up and shared her vivid memories of Alice Neel and intricate details of that special day she sat to have her portrait painted. It was all so moving...a truly unforgettable experience.
. . . . . .
