In a New York State of Mind...

Hi guys! Hope everyone had or is having (depending on where you are in the world) a lovely Sunday!

I've definitely been having an I-miss-New-York kind of day...I woke up thinking about my friends there and of that surge of excitement I get every time I get off the plane in N.Y.C. Whether I'm there in the Summer or there in the snow, there's just something unique about that city...something in the air that makes me feel on top of the world! It's filled with diversity and so many incredible stories to tell...

I think that's why one of my favorite blogs is Humans of New York. For me it is a little window into the city that I love so dearly and, even though I'm often physically far from it, this blog keeps me connected to it and it's unique inhabitants. Brandon, the photographer and creator of HONY does an incredible job snapping portraits of New Yorkers and asking them a few questions...in one single picture and caption he communicates so much about his subjects. I am fully impressed not only by Brandon's photos, but by the courage he manifests when approaching complete strangers as he does, and his sensitivity that make him able to capture the core essence of New York. After all, it is the people that make a place.

So...since I woke up with stars in my eyes this morning, I've been asking myself: if I were in New York today what would I be doing? I thought I would share a few pictures from some of my most recent trips back home to give you an idea...

Ciao a tutti! Spero che avete passato o state passando (a secondo di dove vi trovate nel mondo) una bellissima domenica!

Oggi è stata sicuramente una di quelle giornate in cui mi manca terribilmente la mia città, New York...mi sono svegliata pensando ai miei amici d’infanzia e a quella sensazione di eccitazione pura che mi avvolge ogni volta che l’aereo atterra a N.Y.C. Che sia una giornata estiva o di neve, si avverte sempre quel “qualcosa” di speciale…un’atmosfera magica che mi fa sentire in cima al mondo!

Il suo punto forte è quello della diversità e delle infinite storie che ci sono da raccontare…Penso che sia per questo motivo che uno dei miei blog preferiti è Humans of New York. Anche se sono spesso lontana fisicamente, questo blog mi permette di mantenere un legame quotidiano con la città che amo e con i suoi abitanti unici. Brandon, il fotografo e fondatore di HONY scatta ritratti ai Newyorchesi, sottoponendoli inoltre a delle brevi interviste...Con una sola fotografia e poche parole riesce a far emergere l’interiorità dei soggetti. Non solo sono pienamente impressionata dalle sue foto, ma anche dal coraggio dimostrato nell’approcciarsi a dei perfetti sconosciuti, e dalla sensibilità che lo rende capace di catturare la vera essenza di New York, in quanto sono comunque le persone che rendono un luogo quello che è.

Quindi…visto che stamattina mi sono svegliata con le stelle negli occhi, mi stavo chiedendo: se io fossi a New York oggi, cosa farei? Ho pensato di condividere con voi qualche foto di alcuni dei miei viaggi più recenti a N.Y. per darvi un’idea…

It would probably be a snow day like when I was there last March.
Sarebbe probabilmente una giornata di neve come quelle durante la mia visita lo scorso Marzo.

So I would stop for cupcakes at Magnolia Bakery!
Così mi fermerei da Magnolia Bakery a mangiare qualche cupcake!

I love grabbing a table in the window and writing in my journal while I sip my tea and enjoy my dessert(s)... ;)
Mi piace sedermi a uno dei tavoli vicini alla vetrata e scrivere mentre bevo il mio tè e mangio i miei dolci... ;)

I love a good walk along 5th avenue too...
Mi piace anche fare delle belle passeggiate lungo la Quinta Avenue...

Ahhhhh the city traffic! It's music to my ears!

Of course New York wouldn't be New York without my beautiful friends!
I always get extremely excited to see them (as you can see by my face in this picture)...We've had countless adventures together...
Ovviamente New York non sarebbe tale senza i miei bellissimi amici!

questa foto)...abbiamo condiviso così tante avventure insieme...

We also loved our brunch at Alice's Tea Cup...I'm still waiting to try their pumpkin french toast though!

Lincoln Center is always enchanting and I've had some really special evenings there...
Lincoln Center è sempre un posto incantevole dove ci ho passato delle serate davvero speciali...

Mike and I have a tradition:
Japanese food at Zen at St. Mark's Place...
we've been going there for years and it's always
where we have our first dinner when I arrive in the city!

Io e Mike abbiamo una tradizione:

mangiare il giapponese da Zen, un ristorante che si trova a St. Marks Place…

sono anni che andiamo a mangiarci ed è il primo luogo 

di ritrovo ogni volta che ritorno a New York!

We also have two favorite activities: wandering and stooping...
Usually when we meet up we don't set out with an exact destination,
we just start walking and usually end up covering pretty
much the whole island of Manhattan!
Stooping is what we do when we get tired...we choose the perfect building
stoop where we sit for hours and talk and talk...

Abbiamo anche due attività preferite: wandering e stooping…

Wandering è il vagare senza una meta, percorrendo in lungo e in largo

quasi l’intera isola di Manhattan! Lo Stooping, invece, è quello

che si fa quando ci si stanca: scegliamo le gradinate ideali
